50th Celebration of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

記念式典と記念講演会のご案内 |
5月17日は国際電気通信連合（ITU）の誕生を祝う記念日です。日本ITU協会は、「世界情報社会・電気通信日のつどい」式典を開催し、国際的な標準化や協力分野で功績を遂げられた方々に「功績賞」「奨励賞」を贈呈します。受賞者を囲む祝賀会も予定していますので、是非受賞者の晴れの舞台にお越しください。
また、式典では時代の最先端となる技術動向に関する記念講演があります。今年は、国立研究開発法人情報通信研究機構 徳田英幸理事長に 「IoT・AIの未来とセキュリティの課題 〜これからのICT技術をどう進化させるか〜」と題して大変興味深いお話を伺います。
参加ご希望の方は、事前登録をお願いしています。当協会からのご招待者を対象に300名を予定しています。一般の方もお申込みいただけますが、残席を用意できない等の理由でご参加いただけない場合がありますので予めご了承ください。

The seventeenth of May marks World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) of International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This day celebrates the anniversary of the founding of the ITU and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865. In commemoration of this, we are holding a celebration on 17 May. This celebration will draw attention to ITU related activities in Japan and to the Declaration of Principles/the Plan of Action of World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
The event will commence with an award ceremony during which the MIC Minister’s Award and also ITU-AJ awards will be presented in recognition of contributions to ITU-R, ITU-T and ITU-D as well as international cooperation. This ceremony will be followed by a one hour lecture by Ph.D. Hideyuki Tokuda, President, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology.
From 17:30, we will hold a reception party.
You are cordially invited to this ceremony and reception. For your information, Japanese-English Simultaneous interpretation will be available during the ceremony.

1973年から贈呈している「日本ＩＴＵ協会賞」の歴代受賞者とその功績概要を発表しています。
1968年のCCITT総会で、1865年（慶応元年）ITUの基礎となった最初の万国電信条約が20か国の全権委員によって署名された5月17日を「世界電気通信日」と定めました。2005年世界情報社会サミットでこの日を「世界情報社会の日」とすることが宣言され、その後国連総会で採択されました。従来の「世界電気通信日」よりもいっそう幅広い趣旨を盛り込んで祝賀することが決議されたことを受け、日本ITU協会では、この日を記念してITU等における国際標準化活動の貢献した方々を「日本ITU協会賞」として顕彰するとともに、講演会等の記念行事を開催しています。
ITUの目的達成および我が国のITU関係諸活動の発展向上、ならびに全世界的な情報社会の発展とデジタル・ディバイドの解消を中心としたICT後発国の底上げに寄与するため、1973年から日本ITU協会賞を授与しています。
