About ITU-AJ
About the ITU Association of Japan
The ITU Association of Japan (ITU-AJ) was founded on September 1,1971 to coordinate Japanese activities in telecommunication and broadcasting sectors with international activities. Since then, ITU-AJ has been conducting cooperation/coordination works for international organizations including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The ITU-AJ, as its regular activities, organizes Study Meetings on Basic Matters for the ITU, ITU-T(Telecommunication standardization Sector), ITU-R (Radiocommunication Sector) and Digital Opportunities, in addition to seminars for the young and new participants to international conferences or meetings to brush up their skills in English and negotiation In addition, ITU-AJ is also assisting training programs organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT).For the dissemination of information on the activities of ITU to its member companies, ITU-AJ collects such information as the results of various ITU meetings, and to update our members by publishing monthly magazines and holding seminars in a timely manner.

- - Received the Prime Minister's Award (in UN Year of World Communications).

- - First issue of the quarterly WORC-JAPAN Journal・

- - WORC-JAPAN sent specialists to join a technical co-operation project in
Tanzania, under the auspices of the ITU's Telecommunication Development
Center.

- - First issue of ITU-AJ's English journal New Breeze・
- 1992.4
- - The ITU-AJ merged with the WORC-JAPAN to form the New ITU Association of Japan
- 1993.3
- - Joined the ITU's Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) and Radiocommunication
Sector (ITU-R).
- 1993.6
- - Merged the publications ITU Study・and The ITU Journal.
- - Joined the ITU's Development Sector (ITU-D)
- 2000.2
- - The name of the Association was changed to The ITU Association of Japan
- 2005.11
- - Assisted the secretariat of Japanese government and workshop for the World Summit on the Information Society held in Tunis, Tunisia.
